Statement

My subject matter is constantly changing. As of right now I think I'm really focusing on the current culture around us which has been directing my art towards a counterculture
route. I also believe the emotion that sparks from current events around the world and in my own personal life finds its way into my art. By taking on this challenge I mainly work with traditional media such as graphite. I believe the high contrast built with graphite is a really strong medium associated with evoking more emotion from the viewer.

Personal life events bring me inspiration by allowing me to speak about my mental health and personal experiences in the hope that others will relate to and be represented in my work. When people view my work, I want them to just enjoy viewing it. That can be done by relating to the messages the art presents or just by appreciating the composition.

The messages of my pieces are not clear at first and I like it when people theorize what it could mean. But the message doesn’t need to be understood to appreciate the artwork. I strive to let the composition by itself be interesting to the viewer, and the message is just an easter egg.

The messages behind my art can also be recognized by anyone yet I believe they may resonate with young adults more; therefore, they are my intended audience. I wish my art could act as a “call to action” since my themes align the counterculture movement. I do wish I am able to use my skills to reach a wider audience, such as through graphics, motion graphics, and even through interactive art forms broadcasted to many.

I find inspiration through so many ways. Music is a heavy influence since visuals pair well with music. Other illustrators I really enjoy are Armado Veve and Riccardo
Bettazzoni, their art often displays cultural motifs that I also pursue in my art. I also love movies and tv, and that's probably where I see myself the most. With motion graphics I’m able to pair the messages I want to portray and combine them with pleasing visuals to
create cohesive motion pictures.

To accomplish my future goals, strengthen my skills, and better articulate my messages I’ve disciplined myself into being the best art student I can be. I’ve learned that by using my time wisely outside of class, I can accomplish both my academic goals and my career goals. My goals include doing the best I can on my class projects, creating personal art projects during my free time, and homing in on skills that I’ve picked up. To help accomplish these goals I keep my personal routine steady, I have a sketchbook on me and come prepared. I also have realized I like working on academic projects in the morning till late afternoon then in the evening I take it easy and enjoy hobbies or practice a skill I’ve
been wanting to learn.
